It is an extinct snowcapped volcano. Its top is large and irregular. Experienced climbers can reach it within 6 hours from its shelter. It is the third highest peak in the country, characterized by steep and dangerous walls, which caused several accidents to climbers, but at the same time this context gives its strange beauty. In its surroundings, a number of condor roostings have been identified especially around Piemonte farm.
Climbing to the peaks, glacier trekking and camping are made in Cayambe.
